Terms of Service

Effective July 2026

This is an initial launch version of our Terms of Service. We may refine it as Sonar grows — if anything here is unclear or you have a question, email hello@8x.social.

These Terms govern your use of Sonar, a competitive-intelligence service that discovers brands competing for your audience on TikTok and Instagram, maps the creators behind them, and classifies the associated videos into written insights and reports. By creating an account or using Sonar, you agree to these Terms.

The service

Sonar analyzes publicly available social content to produce competitor and creator reports. Findings are generated by automated pipelines and AI models from public data, so they are provided for your information and judgment — they may contain gaps or inaccuracies and are not a substitute for your own verification or professional advice.

Accounts and workspaces

You are responsible for the activity in your workspace and for keeping your login secure. Provide accurate account information, and don't share credentials or let others use your account in ways that violate these Terms. You may invite teammates to your workspace; you are responsible for their use of the service.

Credits and billing

Credits are the unit of usage and are prepaid. You buy them either as one-time credit packs or through an optional monthly subscription, priced in US dollars.
Payments are processed by Stripe. We never receive or store your full card number — see our Privacy Policy.
Starting a run consumes the credits for that run. If a run fails, the credits held for it are released back to your balance.
New workspaces start with trial credits so you can run your first analysis at no cost. Credits are not redeemable for cash and, except where required by law, purchased credits are non-refundable. Subscriptions renew until cancelled and can be cancelled at any time for future periods.

Acceptable use

Don't use Sonar for any unlawful purpose or to harass, dox, or target individuals.
Don't attempt to disrupt, overload, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorized access to the service.
Don't resell, redistribute, or scrape the service or its outputs as a competing dataset.
Respect the terms and rights of the platforms and creators whose public content is analyzed.

Your content and our service

You keep ownership of the inputs you provide (such as your brand and the parameters of a run). We own Sonar itself — the software, pipelines, and models that produce your reports. Reports are licensed to you for your and your workspace's internal business use.

No warranty

Sonar is provided "as is" and "as available." We don't warrant that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any report is complete, accurate, or fit for a particular purpose.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, Sonar and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us for it in the three months before the claim.

Termination

You can stop using Sonar and close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if these Terms are breached or if we're required to by law. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (billing owed, limitations of liability) will survive.

Changes

We may update these Terms as the service evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with a new effective date. Continuing to use Sonar after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
